Let’s Do Lunch

Now that August is here, there’s really no denying it: the end of summer will be here before we know it, and it’ll be back to the grindstone for all of us. The end of summer spells the end of weekends at the cabin, the end of knocking off work early to spend the afternoon at the beach, and the end of long lunches on your favourite patio. We can’t do anything to change that, but we can help make brown-bagging it a little more palatable this fall with one of Urban Harmonie’s charming reversible and reusable lunchbags.

To win one of your very own, just hit the “comment” section below and tell us the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen somebody eat for lunch, or the most outlandish thing you’ve ever had for lunch yourself. On Sunday, August 19th, 2012 we’ll choose a name at random and one lucky person will win the lunchbag of their choice! Urban Harmonie has even offered to make one just for you, with any two of their current fabric options.

And if you’re wondering, the weirdest lunch we’ve ever witnessed was a peanut butter and dill pickle sandwich. On rye.

UPDATE: Congratulations to HollyAnne, whose name we pulled from our hat!

Can’t say my entry challenges pickles and peanut butter, but people tease me all the time for eating all my leftovers cold — pasta, stir fries, soups, even burgers!

After having been out of town for a while and not being able to get to the grocery store, I recently made myself a sandwich out of salal berry jam, tahini and a stale pita. It was surprisingly tasty.

I once watched in horror as my coworker ate tuna and peanut-butter on a rice cake. I thought that was pretty weird. My own personal weirdest lunch was a dish of dill pickles and a strawberry milkshake. You can decide which is stranger.

Pancakes with melted cheddar cheese and raspberry syrup

A peanut butter and bacon sandwich. I hear it is quite tasty but I’m a vegetarian so I can’t say for sure.

I think the weirdest thing I ever ate for lunch was a hot dog with peanut butter on it (chunky peanut butter).

Isn’t it funny how so many of the quirky food combos have peanut butter in them?

The weirdest thing I ever had for lunch was tripe. ( cow stomach) My mom makes it and brought me a container of it to bring to work. My co-workers were mortified, but if you can get past the appearance it’s really quite tasty!

  8. Mangos and Watermelon with CHILI PEPPER and lime…

The weirdest lunch I have ever seen someone eat was sardines and mini marshmallows mixed into strawberry yogurt — the smell was pretty overwhelming — without the sardines though, it was pretty yummy.

  10. At the age of 5 I made lunch for myself by opening the fridge and proceeding to eat an entire jar of pickled herring. It upset my tummy so much it turned me off the stuff for life!

When I was in highschool I would toast 2 Eggo waffles, and then use them to make a sandwich with a slice of cheese and ketchup! LOL!!! People thought I was crazy… until they tried it and loved it! I hadn’t eaten it since highschool (which was a LONG time ago), but last weekend, I was served a pancake and I ate it with… you guessed it, cheese and ketchup! Still good. HAHA!

As A (Former/now un-empolyed) preschool Teacher Daily my co-workers would make fun of my hobo lunches that I would unravel from a plastic save on bag..They would vary from crunchy rotting veggies to an un-cooked pack of mr.noodles with the seasoning sprinkled on top :[ (rent’s high).. As for a lunch I’ve seen the children eat dinner leftovers dipped in applesauce this wasnt uncommon either 3 of them adopted this :P
